It was a cloudy weekend with occasional drizzle. On Saturday we figured out the round trip bus route into Hachioji for some more groceries. Again, I'm grateful for the little Japanese I know - it has been very helpful! Here are two photos from the trip:

Pedestrian Zone

This time we shopped at Alps, a bit more like the kind of grocery store we are used to. You can't imagine all the fish available! We managed to get everything on our list except for aluminum foil (couldn't figure that one out). 

We stayed in all Sunday. I got so caught up on my work! I finished all my grading from USF, caught up on a journal issue I'm editing, caught up on emails, and planned out a trip to Kamakura and Lake Kawaguchi next weekend (Thursday-Sunday). I also played a bit with my camera and with the macro lens (last three). By the day, more cherry blossoms appear on the trees just outside our windows. Below are my favorite shots from Sunday:

We've had a lovely quiet weekday after a very busy week for me. This morning is a sunny one of 61 degrees F. It should go up to mid-70s today, so we'll get out of here for a good walk. I've lost 7 pounds from all the healthy walking (with lots more to go - walking and weight 😊 ). I chatted with friend Eric and my mom on FB this morning. Mom said it was 90-something degrees there today. I'll take the 75 here today! It is really fun to enjoy a real spring this year. I'll post a few more photos in this entry taken from the past couple weeks. Today I want to walk around and see more of the azaleas that are coming out on campus.

May 23-25: Return to Fuji

When we went to a town near Fuji in April, it was just one overnight, and we learned of other things to do there that we did not have time for. So we decided to go back during another beautiful season, that of the moss festival, or Shibazakura Festival. Shibazakura are small flowers that grow in a type of moss and resemble sakura, or cherry blossoms. About 800,000 of them bloom over 2.4 hectares of land in a place that foregrounds Mt. First 24 hours at Soka University

April 3 – From Seoul to Narita to Hachioji After falling asleep at 8:30 last night, it was no problem to awaken at 4:30, so we were on the first shuttle bus to Incheon at 5:30 for a flight leaving at 9am. I was glad I invested in a Chase travel card that includes entrance to all the exec airport lounges around the world. We tucked ourselves into the Asiana lounge for a comfortable and quiet couple hours with free breakfast. Asiana really   knows how to set up the interior of a plane! Lots of space and leg room for another smooth flight to Narita. We traveled over some beautiful snow-capped mountains. Looks like the Misty Mountains from LO
